Erik and Ana are a husband and wife team living in Hyde Park Vermont. Their interest in Coffee began when Erik was working as a freelance web developer, which entailed long days and nights of detailed scripting and design work. It was then that he discovered that strong coffee would help him complete projects and meet deadlines. He searched the town for the best coffee he could find, and noticed that the flavors varied tremendously from shop to shop. He began roasting his own coffee and quickly realized that there was no comparison.
With a strong culinary background and Colombian roots, Ana was a natural partner for the coffee business. At the age of 7, she was adopted and moved to Vermont into a growing family that is now 19 kids from everywhere. Ana spent a number of years in culinary arts, where she worked with many great chefs and bakers and identified with the always challenging and rewarding world of food. She met Erik at her last job in Burlington and the two fell in love, and the rest is history. A proud mother to the couples two children, Aiden and Mia, she appreciates living in a place where family values and wholesome living are so important. Having lived in Vermont most of her life, she enjoys the community aspect of bringing great coffee to great people.
In 2007 the Olsen’s moved from Burlington to Hyde Park where they felt instantly at home in a community of localvores who had much the same lifestyles and interests as them. The mindset of living off the local land and utilizing the best, organic ingredients was refreshing, and a virtue that resonated with Erik and Ana. They love living in the heart of the green mountains; and are quite excited about sharing their freshly roasted coffees with the community.
The Olsen’s own a mobile espresso van which travels around locally, supplying
businesses and festivals with their micro brewed freshly roasted coffee, Barista’s Beans. Their motto “we bring the gourmet coffee house to you” is a testament to their obsession with freshness and community. They hope to continue sharing their passion with the great state of Vermont and beyond, for many years to come.
